What Is A Casual Cocktail Dress

An invitation to a wedding requesting "casual cocktail attire" may seem confusing, if you don't know what that term really means, you're not alone. It is not an easy job to maintain proper guest etiquette when you have a growing number of social events. Cocktail attire is is less formal than black tie, yet not quite business casual. Traditionally, women are asked to wear a short, but somewhat formal dress together with high heels. Times have changed, cocktail now includes a bigger selection of styles.

The basics
Cocktail attire is usually classified as semi-formal, while casual cocktail attire is somewhere between cocktail and business casual. An expensive dress and pair of heels are not necessary, while apparel like denim is not appropriate. An elegant A-lineor pencil skirt look chic and a bit dressed up. Pair that skirt a form-fitting sweater and add sparkling statement necklace.

The Event
After getting a clear idea of the dress code, you need to take the event into consideration to pick a right outfit to suit the occasion. For example, a wedding  can be a bit more dressed-up than going to a dinner party in a private home. For a casual cocktail wedding, create a polished look by choosing a short dress. Tend to try classic cocktail dress in woven for example, which have more structure and a fancier look, style your dress with jewelry and heels to add some sophistication to the whole look.

The Time
Dressing for an event during the day should always be slightly different than going out after dark. Go for bright colors and prints to suit daytime events, like primary hues and stripes or floral prints.  A bright-colored dress matches perfectly with a red shoe. For casual cocktail at night, a modern midi length skirt gets dresses-down by a basic short or long-sleeved T-shirt!
